The PEM™ can process almost any organic feedstock, in almost any form. The PEM™ can process hydrocarbons and petrochemicals as well as materials with high concentrations of halogens. Organic materials are converted to their elemental state and recombined with steam to form syngas. Most inorganic materials dissolve in the glass as oxides. The more noble metals settle below the glass and can be collected separately. Other elements are removed from the synthesis gas in the syngas cleaning system, resulting in a very high purity syngas.
